William Nieter

Bio: William, Director of the Environmental Studies Program and the Assistant Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at St. John's University, teaches courses in Natural Resources and World Development, World Regional and North American Regional Geography, Environmental Geology, Coastal Environment and Development Issues and an Honors course in Environmental and Earth Sciences. He received his Masters Degree in Science Education Supervision from Columbia University in New York in 1981.

William is committed to giving his support to local environmental science efforts and has served on a number of advisory committees to city and state agencies dealing with local water quality issues around the New York metro area including the NY/NJ Harbor Estuary Program. He has also hosted several conferences both at St. John's University and at outside venues addressing with local and regional environmental issues. Outside the University, he serves on several NYC advisory committees and has an active leadership role with several community-based environmental groups.
